Perfectly charming
Yes, 'charming' is an odd adjective to apply to a tea kettle, but those of us who believe that tea is one of the finest pleasures of this life will understand. The design has a French country charm which leads me to always leave the kettle on the stove, even on the rare occasion when it is not boiling.
This kettle is a perfect size for one to two people - choose the larger model otherwise. The handle does not become overheated during boiling, and the overall quality of the design is high.
It's a hoot!
I ordered this tea kettle after the 'cheaper' kettle bought locally constantly failed to alert me to its boiling waters. I have admired the Pistoulet dish pattern and plan to start collecting, so I had this on my wish list. I was happily amused to discover that when the waters boil, this kettle doesn't merely whistle for me, it gives the most amusing HOOOOT! that does not fail to return me to the kitchen. I had hesitated over the price, but now I am glad to have the tea kettle as the first piece of my future collection. It is pretty AND works hard.
Tea and whimsy.
What a delightful kettle. I've had several good quality, functional, boring ones. This Pistoulet Whistler is a bit of French country whimsy while doing all the things the prosaic types did. The whistle is on the husky side--you won't ignore it. Looks great on the stove top, too. Charming.
